Directive 95/46/EC of 24 October, transposed by Law No. 67/98 of 26 October, provides that the collection and subsequent processing of data may only be carried out for legitimate purposes, for specific and defined purposes, maintaining the accuracy of data and only allowing the data subject to be identified at defined times.
The law also contemplates the principle of prior authorisation, so that data can only be processed with the consent of the data subject, except in the cases of execution of a contract, fulfilment of a tax obligation or the protection of the data subject’s vital interests, if the latter is unable to provide their consent.

- Allowing access to certain website contents or those of partner websites;
- Obtaining data for statistical processing to better meet the requests and interests of users;
- Promoting information activities, marketing, and registration for its own events or those of partners, among others.
